2 Face Drug, Weapon Charges After Disturbance in Commack

Two men were arrested on drug and weapons charges after a disturbance in Commack, Suffolk police reported Wednesday.

Fourth Precinct police officers responded to a disturbance at 7-Eleven, 362 Veterans Memorial Highway,  Tuesday at approximately 9:45 p.m. During the disturbance, police said, Robert Sperduti displayed a handgun to the cashier. Upon police arrival, Sperduti attempted to flee but was apprehended a short time later.

Police officers also apprehended Robert Cano, who was found to be in possession of Xanax without a prescription. Following an investigation, it was determined that Cano sold the gun to Sperduti, police said.

Sperduti, 22, of Huntington, was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and Menacing 2nd Degree. Cano, 19, of Smithtown, was arrested and charged with Criminal Sale of a Firearm 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.

Sperduti and Cano are scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday.
