2 Hurt in Fire at Usdan Center

Fires apparently caused by lightning strikes from Tuesday’s thunderstorm damaged buildings at the Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts in Wheatley Heights.

Firefighters from the Huntington Manor, Melville, East Farmingdale and Dix Hills fire departments responded to the blaze, which broke out about 7:15 p.m., Newsday reported. Two people, a firefighter and a camp staffer, were injured, Newsday said.

The camp’s summer season concluded Friday, according to its website. This was the center’s 50th anniversary.
