2 Injured in Melville Crash

The Melville Fire Department responded to an accident involving a tractor-trailer and an SUVat the intersection of Walt Whitman Road and the South Service Road in Melville Saturday about 1:30 am.
Both vehicles traveled several hundred feet down the service road through the woods and came to rest in the parking lot of the FedEx building, striking two parked cars in the parking lot.
Melville firefighters used heavy rescue tools to extricate the driver of the SUV, who was transported to Nassau University Medical Center with serious injuries by the Melville Rescue Squad. 
The driver of the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries, and was transported to Plainview Hospital by the Melville Rescue Squad.
Three ambulances, three heavy rescue engines, paramedic and first responder units were on the scene, under the direction of Assistant Chief David Kaplan.
