Two people were killed early Wednesday when a car struck a gas pump at a Sunoco gas station in Commack, Suffolk County police said.
A man driving a 2013 Audi west on Jericho Turnpike lost control of the vehicle and struck a gas pump at Sunoco gas station, located at 2211 Jericho Turnpike about 2:10 a.m.The car caught fire and both the driver and a male passenger were killed.
The men were identified as Hector Sanchez Jr., 27, of Brentwood, the driver, and Shawn Jenkins Jr., 24, of Bay Shore.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
