2 Rescued From Commack House Fire

Two people were rescued from a house fire in East Northport early Friday morning, Suffolk police said.

Second Precinct police officers responded to a call at 28 Penfield Lane and found the home fully engulfed. They put a ladder against the home, climbed up and pulled a woman out of the window and carried her to safety.

Firefighters from the Commack Fire Department extricated her husband, Suffolk police said.

Officers Shane Wild and Steven Capogna  were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The two occupants of the house were evaluated at the same hospital and were not injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives.
