200 Receive Covid-19 Vaccination at Melville Pop-Up

About 200 people received a Covid-19 vaccine Friday at B.A.P.S. Swaminarayan Hindu Temple in Melville.

Stony Brook University personnel administered the vaccines, as part of New York State’s community pop-up outreach, which includes  religious institutions, public housing developments, schools, some union offices, community centers and fire stations, which make appointments and serve as hosts.

Huntington Supervisor Chad Lupinacci stopped by the temple to greet volunteers and medical workers.

Meanwhile, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Friday that  183,984 first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the last 24 hours, a record for the state. He also announced 5,143,219 first and second doses have been administered to date, 801,993 of which were administered by state-run mass vaccination sites. As of Friday morning, New York providers have administered 95 percent of first doses so far delivered. The Week 12 allocation from the federal government is in the process of being delivered to providers for administration.
