The Suffolk County Police Department Second Precinct recently reported the following traffic enforcement crackdowns.
Speed Contest Enforcement

Location: 495 South Service Rd. Dix Hills
Details: Two operators were given summonses for Unauthorized Speed Contest and Speeding. Both vehicles were impounded.
Sobriety Checkpoint
Date/Time: 12/17/21 11:00 pm
Location: New York Avenue at Church Street, Huntington Station
Details: Police Officers from the Suffolk County Police Department Highway Patrol Bureau conducted a sobriety checkpoint with New York State Troopers and Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs at the municipal parking lot, located at New York Avenue at Church Street. The checkpoint was part of ongoing holiday crackdown operations targeting alcohol and drug impaired driving. A total of 448 vehicles went through the checkpoint.
The following people were arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated:
- Joanna Almonte, 41, Greenlawn
- Joseph Cavanagh, 47, Manorville
- Gerald Sullivan, 45, Port Jefferson Station
- Scott Richards, 41, Huntington Station
The following people were arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs:
- Denise Morales, 40, Glen Cove
- Steven Kolb, 28, Commack
