2nd Precinct Officers Arrest Man on Charges of Stealing 3 Cars

A  Wheatley Heights man was arrested Monday and accused of stealing three cars in two days, Suffolk County police said.

Second Precinct officers responded after a car identified as stolen in Southampton earlier in the day was found in the Walt Whitman Shops parking lot.  Police said the officers found the 2017 BMW at 1:06 p.m. and saw a man enter the SUV and drive off. Officers stopped the vehicle just south of the mall and took the driver, Claudy Fleury Jr., into custody.

After further investigation, police said that Fleury, who was in possession of a stolen credit card at the time of his arrest, was wanted for stealing a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a 7-Eleven parking lot, at  3269 Sunrise Highway in Islip Terrace, at approximately 1:25 p.m. and a 2013 Toyota Camry from a parking lot, located on Hewitt Square in East Northport, at 7:45 p.m., both on Sunday.

Fleury, 25,  was charged with two counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree. He was being held overnight at the Second Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Tuesday, after which he will be turned over to Southampton Town Police for additional charges.
