3 Hurt in Collision Involving Police Car Near Walt Whitman Shops

Three people were injured, including a Suffolk County police officer when a police vehicle and another car collided on Walt Whitman Road Sunday night.

Suffolk police said a marked SCPD vehicle was headed north at 5:51 p.m., with light and sirens, following an ambulance, when a car pulled out off the mall parking lot and the two cars collided.

The driver of the 2018 Volkswagen Passat was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment while a passenger was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Islip. The officer was taken to Nassau University Medical Center. All were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
