26 Vehicles Destroyed in Hotel Lot Fire

A fire did an estimated $1 million in damage  to more than two dozen vehicles in the parking lot of the Huntington Hilton , the Melville Fire Department said Monday.

The cars were located in the middle of a storage lot of approximately 1,000 Uber vehicles, making accessibility a significant issue. Plainview, East Farmingdale, Dix Hills and Huntington Manor fire departments helped fight the blaze, which was brought under control in about an hour, the Melville department said.

Chief David Kaplan said 26 vehicles were destroyed, with others experiencing lesser damage. Two Melville firefighters suffered minor injuries; one was taken to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
