3rd Update: Parents Arrested on Custodial Interference Charges

Updated 12:05 a.m. The parents of a boy who had been reported missing were arrested Tuesday night and charged after they had failed to surrender him to Child Protective Services earlier this month. He was recovered unharmed in Huntington Station Tuesday afternoon.

Selina Elswick, 32, and Thomas Sollas, 43, both of Huntington Station, were charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree custodial interference.

The boy was first reported missing from Commack, police said, after Elswick failed to surrender him at a court hearing in Central Islip on Jan.22. Police said that CPS attempted to take custody of the child at their residence in Commack on Monday, they discovered that the two had moved out of the residence on Jan.16.  CPS had contacted the Suffolk County Police Department on Jan. 22 to report the child missing.

Elswick was additionally held on a warrant from Suffolk County Family Court.

She is being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and Sollas is being held overnight at the Fifth Precinct, both for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday.
