$400,000 Raised for Northwell Women’s Health Programs

Nearly $400,000 was raised for women’s health at Northwell Health’s 28th Annual Katz Institute for Women’s Health Virtual Luncheon and Fashion Event presented by the Partners Council for Women’s Health.

The event — attended virtually by more than 300 supporters — was hosted by Rosanna Scotto, co-anchor of Fox 5’s Good Day New York, and was also made possible by lead sponsors, Iris and Saul Katz, the lead benefactors of the Katz Institute for Women’s Health. To date, the Katz Institute Luncheon and Fashion Event has raised nearly $11 million in support of women’s health.

Proceeds from a special text-to-give during this year’s virtual show benefit the Northwell Heroes Caregiver Support Fund, which provides resources to team members in need including programs and services related to emotional and psychological well-being. The fund provides financial support for essential services, including child/dependent care assistance, mortgage or rent relief and other related items.

This year’s event celebrated several of Northwell’s healthcare heroes for their work on the front lines during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Northwell Health was in the epicenter of this health crisis, and have tested, diagnosed, and treated nearly 85,000 people with the virus.

The honorees included Evelina Grayver, MD, director, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and director, Women’s Heart Health, The Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital, North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center; Mirtha Macri, DO, Emergency Department Nocturnist, Lenox Health Greenwich Village; Rose Belfort-Priester, BSN, RN, Staff RN, Critical Care Float Team; Lakia Bradley Joseph, supervisor, Environmental Services, Long Island Jewish Medical Center; and Nora Brady, administrative director, Katz Women’s Hospital/OBGYN Department, North Shore University Hospital. Our healthcare heroes/fashion models walked the runway at Old Westbury Gardens wearing Michael Kors during the highlight of the virtual show.

Northwell’s Senior Vice President for Women’s Health and Partner’s Council Professor for Women’s Health, Stacey E. Rosen, MD, spoke about the pandemic, the health and safety of Northwell’s patients including mothers-to-be and their babies, and how the Katz Institute puts women at the center of everything they do.

“When New York started shutting down, we had a tremendous task ahead of us. We knew that continuing our everyday operations was out of the question. But we also knew that the everyday needs of our patients, including pregnant moms, didn’t go away. And not being there for them was also out of the question” said Dr. Rosen. “At the Katz Institute we strived to create a safe environment for our patients where they could receive the highest quality of care even during the height of the pandemic. We also worked to keep our communities informed and be their trusted source of health information.”

The Katz Institute for Women’s Health was created in 2008 thanks to the vision and generosity of Iris and Saul Katz and provides an innovative model of care, delivering an integrated approach to women’s health and wellness. Supporters of the Fashion Event and the Katz Institute join our effort to Outpace the Impossible and become champions for women.
