The Northport school district locked down five schools Wednesday morning while Suffolk County police searched for a larceny suspect.
Locked down for about 2 1/2 hours were Bellerose, Pulaski Road and Dickinson Avenue schools, plus a middle school and the high school.

Police said the someone stole items from a local business. Inspector William Scrima said no violence was involved, and the school district decided to lock down as a precaution. Police were looking for the thief.
