‘A Rise Above’ Bakery to Close After 40 Years

A Rise Above

“A Rise Above” bakery on Main Street will close at the end of December after decades of operation. Owner Mary McDonald posted a flyer thanking customers, her landlords, workers, and her late brother, Paul,, and late husband, Bruce, for their support throughout the years.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to be a part of this community for the past 40 years,” she wrote.

In a profile for the Long Islander in 2016, she said, ““The feedback has been very positive,” McDonald said, regarding her customers’ response to her products. “I’ve been very fortunate over the years. I have great employees, and they’re not just employees. They’re friends, so it’s been a very good run.”
