Voting by absentee ballot because of the COVID-19 pandemic was expanded Friday through 2022. Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the legislation to allow New Yorkers to request an absentee ballot during the pandemic where there is a risk of contracting or spreading disease that may cause illness to the voter or other members of the public.
This legislation first became law in July of 2020, and expired Dec. 31 2021.

Zimmerman Endorsements
New York State Assemblyman Charles Lavine has endorsed long-time advocate and Long Island businessman Robert Zimmerman for Congress in a race to succeed US Rep. Tom Suozzi, who is running to become governor.

Earlier this week, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli also endorsed Zimmerman. “I have known and worked with Robert for many years. His leadership and advocacy on behalf of the communities of the 3rd congressional district is well known.”
Teachers Endorse Democrats
The New York State United Teachers have endorsed U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer, Gov. Kathy Hochul, Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin, Attorney General Letitia James and Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.
