Aide Accused of Punching Woman With Autism

An Amityville woman was arrested Sunday and accused of punching a woman with autism.

Suffolk police said they responded to a 911 call  Oct.21 that  a woman punching another woman on Baldwin’s Path in Dix Hills.

An investigation by Second Squad detectives determined a 34-year-old autistic woman had walked away from the group home and was located a short time later by Ashley Wright, an employee of the facility. Wright punched the woman before a supervisor arrived on scene and escorted the victim back to the group home.

The victim did not require medical attention. The State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs was notified.

Wright was arrested Sunday at the Second Precinct stationhouse.

Wright, 32,was charged with Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person 1st Degree. She is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
