Apgar Donates $20,000 to Tunnels to Towers Foundation

Sarah Apgar, a former Halesite  Fire Department volunteer and a Shark Tank winner, has donated $20,000 to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Her Fitfighter organization delivered the funds to support the military and first responders, according to the website Firehouse.com

“This is a very special milestone for me in our mission to support veterans, first responders and their families,” said Apgar. She is the creator of The FitFighter Steelhose System, a  full-body strength, power, and conditioning program that was originally designed for firefighters but that is now available to everyone. Apgar’s $10,000 came from the sale of her equipment, which was matched  by Shark Tank partner Daniel Lubetzky.

In a video message Lubetzky, founder of KIND Snacks, said“I’m very touched and grateful for the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military and from first responders who risk their lives every day to keep us safe.  I commend Tunnel to Towers Foundation for their important work.”

The annual run commemorates firefighter Stephen Stiller, who on the morning of Sept.11, 2001, ran with 60 pounds of gear from Brooklyn through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the site of the World Trade Center attacks. He was killed in the collapse of the towers.
