Are You Missing the St. Patrick’s Day Parade? Hibernians Going Virtual

One year ago Monday, Huntington’s Main Street was filled with people watching as pipe bands, fire fighters, bicyclists, step dancers, politicians, police, high school bands, dogs, bicyclists and many more marched past as part of the 86th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

It was the last major event in Huntington before the coronavirus shut everything down.

This year, the parade’s sponsors, Ancient Order of Hibernians, plan a virtual fundraising event instead. The funds raised by the division help stock local food pantries, and provide thousands of dollars in scholarships for students. This year the AOH will look for donations during a special Virtual event premiering on March 14, at 2 pm on YouTube. Visit their Virtual Event page for more information.

Northwell President and CEO Michael Dowling is scheduled to lead next year’s procession down Main Street on March 13, 2022.

If you’re missing the parade this year, take a look at the photos above, from last year’s parade.
