Artist Plans Concert to Support Immigrants

A Huntington artist is seeking volunteers to assist with a concert to support detained immigrants  and undocumented families.

Patricia Shih, director of the film “Undocumented,” which tells the story of Huntington cardiac surgeon Dr. Harold Fernandez, said the concert is scheduled for Oct. 20 at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington.

She expects the event, beyond the concert, to include a sale or auction of donated arts, crafts, services and other items, salsa dancing and food.

The singer/songwriter has previously led fundraisers for Haiti, Hurricane Sandy victims and Puerto Rico.

She is asking for volunteers to help with food, publicity,  sponsors, sound systems and tech support, sales/silent auction and other activities the day of the concert.

“It has been my experience that the community rises when a call for help goes out,” she said on Facebook
