What: Living History Tours

Where: Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum

When: Every Saturday & Sunday through September 2nd, from 12pm-4pm

About: It’s 1936 in the Mansion, and Consuelo Vanderbilt Balsan is enjoying a reunion of her friends in the women’s suffrage movement. Tour guides dressed as members of the Vanderbilt family and household staff tell stories about the Mansion’s famous residents and their world-renowned visitors. Tickets: $8, available only at the door.

What: “Toby Tobias in Concert: Journey from Johannesburg”

Where: Huntington Public Library, 338 Main Street, Huntington

When: June 1, 7pm-8:30pm

About: Toby Tobias is a South African-born, Huntington-based songwriter. He tells the story of his journey through three continents with original songs interspersed with small vignettes about his life growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, Jerusalem, Israel and New York, USA. His message is one of racial equality, understanding other cultures, and embracing togetherness in a world which seeks to divide rather than bring together. Musicians include Toby Tobias (Narrator/Acoustic Guitar/Vocals), Mike Nugent (Electric Guitar/Vocals), Cosmo Mallardi (Bass/Vocals), Richie Guerrero (Percussion).

What: Art League of Long Island Presents 51st Annual Art in the Park Fine Art and Craft Fair

Where: Heckscher Park, Huntington, NY

When: June 2 & 3, 10am-5pm

About: More than 70 artists and craftspeople display their one-of-a-kind works in the scenic grounds of Heckscher Park. Paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, woodwork, ceramics, fiber arts, and more are available for purchase. Free Admission. Free Events. Hands-on Activity for the Whole Family. What: In Appreciation of an American Artist: The Legacy of Lumen Martin Winter – “Dab of Paint” Free Lecture Series

Where: The Art League of Long Island, 107 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills

About: Join Alexander Katlan, renowned art conservator and art collector, to hear an exciting presentation about this artist’s career and accomplishments. Mr. Katlan recognized the importance of Winter’s work and is now presenting it to the art world for re-appraisal 35 years after Winter’s death with hopes of bringing renewed light and appreciation of the artist’s role in American art history. Meets at the Art League of Long Island 11:00am – 12:00pm. Admission is free.
