What: 7th Annual CAC 48 Hour Film Competition
Where: Cinema Arts Centre, Huntington
When: Friday. August 17th at 8pm
About: Simply put, filmmaking teams have just one weekend to make a short film. Filmmakers don’t know what genre they will be shooting until the start of the competition. All creativity: writing, shooting, editing and adding a musical soundtrack, must occur within the 48 hour window beginning Friday evening at 7pm. To add to the mayhem, they must also include some random elements that you find out about at the starting line.

Where: The Vanderbilt Museum, Centerport.
When: Sunday, August 19th at 11am-4pm
About: Distinctive, vintage automobiles will be on display, on the Vanderbilt Great Lawn. $5-$62.

What: Disney’s Newsies
Where: Engeman Theater, Northport
When: Through September 2, 2018
About: Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. This all singing, all dancing, high-energy show features a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman including “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” “King of New York” and “Santa Fe.”
