Arts Round Up: Live Performances This Week

A variety of live performances are open to the public. See what is happening around town:

What: Newsies

Where: John W. Engeman Theater, 250 Main Street, Northport

When: July 19th – September 2nd.

About: Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. This all singing, all dancing, high-energy show features a score by eight-time Academy Award® winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sister Act) and Jack Feldman including “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” “King of New York” and “Santa Fe.”

About: Jazz After Hours brings jazz back to those who want to listen and appreciate. Tickers $10- $15

What: The Liverpool Shuffle

Where: The Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum, 180 Little Neck Road, Centerport

When: Thursday, July 26th 7 pm- 8:30 pm

About: This popular Beatles Tribute band, in its ninth Vanderbilt show, will perform outdoors in the Mansion Courtyard. (Rain location: Planetarium.) $25-$35.
