Take in or take on a variety of creativity this week in the Huntington area.

What: Walking with Whitman: Elaine Equi

Where: Walt Whitman Birthplace

When: Friday, Nov. 2, 6:00 pm (Doors open at 5:30 pm.)

About: There is an open mic at 6 pm, free with admission. Then, after a musical prelude, the main event begins at 8:00 pm. Elaine Equi, a poet whose latest collection is SENTENCES AND RAIN, reads. This is the 8th season of the association’s poetry in performance series.

Cost: $10 members; $15 nonmembers

What: Part One of the Members’ Exhibition 2018

Where: Art League of Long Island

When: Exhibit is Nov. 3 – 25; reception is Sunday, Nov. 4, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

About: Enjoy many types of art by students and professionals. Stephanie Gress, Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum, will be the juror.

About: If you are aged 16 to adult, attend these lectures, at which you will also make art of your own.

Where: The Congregational Church of Huntington

When: Saturday, Nov. 3, 7:30 pm

About: Enjoy music by Tom and his daughters, Lily and Abigail. If you would like, bring a non-perishable food item for Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
