At the Library: Hatching Chicks, Star Wars Trivia

Public libraries are centers of activity for many residents, of all ages. Here are a few things you may have missed if you haven’t visited your library recently.

Libraries are participating in the One Island, One Book launch.

On May 1,  at 2 p.m., author Ellen Feldman, recipient of the 2022 Long Island Reads Selection Award, will appear in a virtual event via Crowdcast hosted by the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library o at 2:00 pm to discuss her latest novel, The Living and the Lost. This event is free. All are welcome and tickets are not required for the online event. Attendees will receive a direct link to the event after registering through Crowdcast at https://crowdcast.io/e/LIReads2022. Half Hollow Hills Community Library: Veterans Discussion

Half Hollow Hills Community Library has a virtual meetup for veterans, moderated by librarians. Thursday, 7-8 p.m.

South Huntington Public Library Sketchbook Project

South Huntington cardholders are invited to participate in the sketchbook initiative, an art project designed to encourage creativity within the community and provide a space for creative expression for all ages and skill levels. Participants are encouraged to fill sketchbooks with any creative work they’d like, including drawings, doodles, cartoons, graphics, collages, poetry, or short stories.

Elwood: Incubator Livestreaming

Elwood Public Library has a livestream of an incubator hatching chickens.

Northport-East Northport Star Wars Trivia

The library invites families of children grades k-5 to join in some in-person Star Wars trivia fun at its May the Fourth event and test their knowledge of a galaxy far, far away.  7 p.m. Register here:
