Police, Junior Welfare League Boost Kids With Backpack Donations

Officers at the Suffolk County Police Second Precinct and members of the Junior Welfare League of Huntington helped students this week with the collection or distribution of school supplies.

The Junior League said it stuffed more than 200 backpacks earlier this week, aided by support from Hockey Helps and the W Services Group.

Suffolk police gave away more than 200 backpacks loaded with supplies provided by Healthfirst health insurance and Leaf Wellness Pharmacy, with two bikes raffled off by Bikes for Kids in America. Martine MacDonald provided a bounce house for kids to enjoy.

The two projects were among many around Huntington this week as children prepare to return to school after Labor Day.
