Bank of America in Dix Hills to Close

The Bank of America branch in Dix Hills will close Nov. 27, the bank told customers on Friday.

That means the opposite ends of the Dix Hills Plaza at 709  Old Country Road, Dix Hills have vacancies. The Pathmark supermarket has been vacant since 2015 when its A&P corporate owner filed for bankruptcy protection and shut down all its stores.

An email Friday morning to customers read, “We’re closing the financial center where you opened your account. While your account will stay the same, we’re sorry for the inconvenience this closing causes. To minimize the inconvenience, we have many other ways you can continue to bank with us.”

It then suggested these options:
• Online and Mobile Banking1— check accounts, pay bills and transfer money 24/7 using a computer, smartphone or tablet:2 bankofamerica.com/onlinebanking.
• Direct Deposit puts your paycheck directly into your account — and gives you faster access to your money: bankofamerica.com/directdeposit.
• Banking by phone— 24-hour automated service or help from an associate: 1.800.432.1000
Bank of America has announced the closing of dozens of branches around the country but it also said plans to open new branches in other states.

Customers with safe deposit boxes at the branch will have to close them, even if they are empty.

The bank also noted that the branch at 101 Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station, just south of the Jericho Turnpike and Route 110 intersection, will remain open.
