Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Sunday that a multi-agency task force had found numerous violations of coronavirus restrictions at bars and restaurants in the downstate area.
The State Liquor Authority and New York State Police Task Force issued 105 violations Friday and Saturday. Businesses found in violation of social distancing regulations face fines up to $10,000 per violation, while some violations can lead to the immediate suspension of their liquor license.
“We have the compliance challenge, especially for young people, especially around bars. I once again ask local governments to do their job,” he said. “State government has gotten more aggressive. Of the 53,568 test results reported to New York State yesterday, 536, or 1 percent, were positive.
