UPDATED: Sean Spaulding, the bicyclist who was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet on New York Avenue on Sept. 3, was pronounced dead at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow Friday.
Earlier story: A man bicycling in Melville early Monday morning was seriously injured when he was struck by a car, Suffolk County police said.
Sean Spaulding was southbound on New York Avenue, just north of East Lyons Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2012 Chevrolet at approximately 4:25 am.
Spaulding, 47, of Massapequa, was taken by Melville Rescue Squad to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, Thuan Van Hoang, 55, of Huntington Station, was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
