Black Lives Matter Marchers Call for Change

For the second consecutive day, hundreds rallied Monday in Huntington to denounce police brutality and racism.

After gathering at the Big H center in Huntington Station, the group marched along New York Avenue to downtown Huntington, turned down Gerard and then Wall Street, and then east on Main before turning around to return to New York Avenue. The group later shifted, stopping at Town Hall to kneel in for a moment of silence for George Floyd, the Minneapolis man whose death in an encounter with police has set off demonstrations around the country.

The group shouted slogans denouncing the deaths of black residents at the hands of police, shouted Floyd’s name and demanded that everyone speak up against racism and support Black Lives Matter. Numerous drivers passing the protesters blew their horns in support.
