Police and the Town of Huntington are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a home in Dix Hills Sunday night and forced the evacuation of a group home next door.
The first of about 75 firefighters and emergency medical personnel to arrive to the Wildwood Drive home at 9:49 p.m. found a heavy fire in the attached garage, spreading to an upstairs bedroom and the attic.
The group home next door to the fire was evacuated as a precaution. No injuries reported, and the fire is being investigated by the Suffolk Police Arson Squad and Town of Huntington Fire Marshal.
