2nd Update: Blaze Hits Hubcap Shop in Huntington Station

2nd UPDATE: A fire seriously damaged C&C Hubcaps Unlimited Thursday night.

The Huntington Manor Fire Department fought the blaze, at 1719 New York Ave., Huntington Station, across the street from the firehouse, and was still applying water about 10 p.m.

The fire department said on Facebook that  it was ” kept busy during tonights storm responding to 6 alarms including this working fire at Jerrys Hubcaps across from Fire Headquarters. We were assisted by Halesite Fire Department which handled 2 of the calls and at the scene of the fire by Huntington,Greenlawn and Melville Fire Departments and Huntington Community First Aid Squad. Town Fire Marshals and Suffolk Police were on the scene to determine the cause of the fire.”

The owners of Original’s Guiseppe’s Pizza next door to the hubcap shop wrote on Facebook, “The entire Staff at the Original Guiseppes Pizza would like to say Thank You to Huntington Manor Volunteer Fire Dept for taking such care of a fire next door to Our Restaurant tonight. We were not affected and we will be open at 10 am on Friday for Business.

“We would like to invite all firemen to come in and enjoy a free regular or old-fashioned slice and a Med fountain soda as a thank you for all you do for the community. ( ID required)”

No further details about the fire were immediately available.
