Bloom Leaving S. Huntington Schools for Franklin Square

Dr. Jared Bloom, assistant superintendent for the South Huntington school district, will be leaving to become superintendent of the Franklin Square district as of July 1.

Bloom succeeds Dr. Ranier W. Melucci, interim superintendent of schools, who took the Franklin Square position at the death of its previous superintendent, Patrick Manley, in December.

He was named Western Suffolk BOCES ‘“Administrator of the Year” for his work in South Huntington.

“He has aggressively pursued grants for the schools, upgrading existing programs and providing new, innovative ones. His background in technology has contributed to South Huntington’s reputation as a leader in the field. As a past president of the Association of Suffolk Supervisors of Educational Technology, he has helped in the development of regional programs to advance the use of technology in school districts throughout Suffolk County,” the South Huntington school district wrote of Bloom, who was assistant superintendent for instruction and curriculum.
