Blue Star Mothers Collecting Donations for Troops

Long Island Blue Star Mothers, NY #6 is collecting donations for its annual holiday box packing that will  ship 200 boxes filled with toiletries, clothes, canned goods and more to servicemen and women overseas.

 The office of Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly, D-Huntington Station, is serving as a drop-off location for the drive. Among the items the organization is most seeking are socks, disposable razors, oral care products, gum, beef jerky, canned food with flip tops, oatmeal, fruit snacks, granola and protein bars, puzzle books and playing cards,  Goods can be dropped off at Donnelly’s district office, 130 West Jericho Turnpike in Huntington Station, Monday through Friday, 9 am – 4 pm, until Nov. 26.

“The holiday season is an important time of year to show our deployed military that we care and
thank them for their service,” said Beth Taylor-Goldberg, 2nd vice president of LI Blue Star
Mothers, NY #6. “We hope everyone can find it in their heart to donate items so our heroes can
enjoy a special holiday box to remind them of home.”
