Board Rejects Appointment to Lead Bureau

The Huntington Town Board Monday rejected the appointment of Josh Price as director of the new Bureau of Administration Adjudication.

The vote was 3-2 with Council members Gene Cook, Mark Cuthbertson and Joan Cergol voting against him, and Supervisor Chad Lupinacci and Council member Ed Smyth backing him.

Price had been serving as part-time chief of staff to Lupinacci.

The town had advertised the job requirements as “The director will act as the primary administrative law judge for the adjudication of matters before the Bureau. The director will also appoint additional administrative law judges to adjudicate notices of violation and to serve on panels to consider and decide appeals.”

The board also reappointed Nick Ciappetta as town attorney on a 3-2 vote, with Lupinacci, Cergol and Cuthbertson voting yes, and Cook and Smyth voting no.

Two attorneys, Leland Solon and Susan Coleman, were appointed to prosecute violations of law in the town code, and special districts in District Court.
