Breakfast and Words of Advice to Youngsters in Huntington Station

More than 40 youngsters gathered Saturday in Huntington Station for breakfast and conversations with police, school leaders, a firefighter and town officials.

Willie Perez of Hombres de Palabra organized the breakfast, hosted by the Huntington Assembly of God and pastor Dan Rivera. Perez said local businesses helped fund the breakfast.

Suffolk police officers served breakfast to the waiting youngsters, who heard tips about calling 911, using caution on social media and information about the junior firefighters program at the Huntington Manor Fire Department. Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, Tax Receiver Jillian Guthman and school superintendents Dr. David Bennardo and James W. Polansky, spoke to the crowd. Second Precinct commander Inspector William Scrima also participated.
