Budget, Country Pointe Project on Board Agenda

The Huntington Town Board will take up  the tentative 2023 operating budget when it meets Thursday.

Supervisor Ed Smyth noted in a letter to town council members that the $219,575,260 budget falls within the state-mandated tax cap, with an increase of 2.56% over the 2022 tax levy.

The budget projects $1 million from Smyth’s plan to impose metered parking on several municipal parkings that are now free to use.

On the town board agenda is a proposed resolution to contract with a company for parking citations and collection.

Also on the agenda are:

A vote on issuing a full State Environmental Quality Review Act review for the zone change application of Country Pointe at Elwood II, to change from R-40 Residence District to R-3M Garden Apartment Special District for property at Jericho Turnpike and Manor Road.

Appointments to the African American, Asian American. Hispanic, anti-bias and persons with disabilities advisory boards;

The Town Board meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
