Building Named for Activist to Be Unveiled

A building renamed for the late Sheila Saks will be unveiled Sunday in Dix Hills.

The ceremony for the Sheila Saks Administrative Offices of  the Dix Hills Water Authority is scheduled for 1 p.m. at 683 Caledonia Road in Dix Hills.

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci and officials from the Town of Huntington the state, Suffolk County, Dix Hills Water District, and family and friends of  the community are expected to participate on  the birthday of the community activist.

She was a past president and member of the House Beautiful Dix Hills Civic Association. She also was a member of the Town of Huntington Citizen Committee and worked on the construction of the water district’s building in 1991.

She died in July 2018 at the age of 75.
