Car Crash Takes Out Utility Pole, Closes Road

A car crash led to the closing of parts of New York Avenue for most of the day.

Suffolk police said they responded to the crash at West 4th Street and New York Avenue about 4:45 a.m. They said that no life-threatening injuries resulted but had no further details.

PSEG-LI crews worked throughout the day to replace the pole, which was snapped into two pieces, blocking traffic in both directions. The utility said the work was completed after 6 p.m.
