Cat Lost in Greenlawn House Fire

Greenlawn firefighters dispatched a house fire Thursday night but a pet cat caught in the blaze was killed.

The Greenlawn Fire Department responded to the Jamaica Avenue fire at 6:20 pm.

First arriving 3rd Assistant Chief Jones reported heavy fire showing and transmitted a working fire. Shortly arriving after were 1st Assistant Chief Miller and Chief Of Department Angelo Santomauro took command of the scene.

Fire crews from  Station 1s Rescue Quint 2-7-2quickly knocked down the fire while HQs Engine crew 2-7-7 worked on search and ventilation operations . Multiple Greenlawn ambulance crews were on scene standing by and provided rehab .

Greenlawn was assisted by neighboring departments to the scene by Huntington Manor , East Northport, Centerport, and Commack VAC with Huntington FD and CVAC standing by our quarters.

There were no injuries reported.
