Chopper Bringing NYPD Members to Join Opening of Tuozzolo Spray Park

The town of Huntington notified Elwood residents Tuesday to expect to see an NYPD helicopter landing Wednesday at James H. Boyd Elementary School on Cuba Hill Road.

The chopper will be ferrying officials to the opening  of the Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo Spray Park at Elwood Park about a half mile from the school.

Officials will open the spray park, the first in the town of Huntington, will officially open at 1 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Sgt. Tuozzolo, a Greenlawn resident, was killed in the Bronx in November 2016 when he approached a man wanted in a home invasion. That gunman was then shot dead by other police on the scene.

The chopper will be landing and taking off from the north ballfield at the school between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. There will be no disruption to activities taking place on school grounds, the town said.

The Elwood Public Library is offering free prizes at the grand opening.
