With power restored in most parts of Huntington after Sunday’s severe storm, some outages continue, mostly in parts of Commack and East Northport.
UPDATE: As of 9:00 p.m., PSEG Long Island said it had restored service to more than 98 percent (93,672) of the more than 95,000 customers affected. It said it expected to have virtually all customers restored by midnight tonight.
PSEG said it could take until Wednesday evening to restore power to all. Utility trucks from different companies could be seen on the streets, working in front of some homes that looked as if the storm had just hit, often next to houses that appeared untouched by the storm.
Residents of all ages were out, cleaning up tree limbs, leaves and sawdust left by chainsaws. On a few streets, drivers were maneuvering around wires sprawled on the ground, in some cases, blocking their driveways.
