Clubhouse Restaurant Seized on Tax Levy

Update: New York State has seized The Clubhouse restaurant for taxes, according to signs posted to the building on West Jericho Turnpike.

The restaurant was founded in 1962 by John and Geraldine Bies, and is managed by their son, Jeffrey, the restaurant’s website says.  It had won several awards for fine dining.

Town records said the most recent bill of $19,550.22 was in arrears, with the owner listed as Bies Realty Corp. The state tax department said the restaurant owes $168,481.02, Newsday said.

The state tax department  notice said the action was taken against The Jaybirds Club/The Clubhouse R&L.

No further information was immediately available.
