The first “Girls Who Code” graduating class were honored recently for their successes.
Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci celebrated the Town of Huntington Youth Bureau’s first graduating class of the Project Excel class at their graduation ceremony at the Village Green Center on March 12.
“Girls Who Code is a group of young girls who have applied their computer science skills to solve a problem in our community. Their project focused on cancer awareness funding in the United States,” Lupinacci said. “Congratulations to the young women of this first graduating class, who are sure to make history in their own right.”
Project Excel is a part of the Huntington Youth Bureau Youth Development Research Institute, which is a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization funded by the Town of Huntington, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the Suffolk County Youth Bureau, Best Buy, BAPS Charities, various fundraisers and private donations. Project Excel’s mission is to help youth develop personal, social and academic competencies that will enable them to excel in school, the community, the job place, at home and among their peers. All programs are provided to youth free of charge.
