Cold Spring Harbor to Choose 3 for Board of Education

Five people are running to fill three openings on the Cold Spring Harbor Board of Education in next week’s election.

Voters will also decide on a proposed budget of $77,141,053, a 5.07% spending increase, and a tax cap increase of 2.95%.

Challengers William Wollman, Lisa Smith, Kate DelliCarpini and Nicholas Cerrone are running, along with Tara Belfi, who is seeking re-election to the board. Incumbents Janice Elkin and Mark Freidberg decided not to run again.

The district cited numerous accomplishments by students and staff in outlining the budget proposal, and said, “Continuing the commitment to our facilities, with an eye on increased security, the proposed budget also includes funds to address a security booth at the Jr./Sr. High School and other security recommendations districtwide.”

The election is May 16, with voting between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Ralph Whitney Field House, Cold Spring Harbor Junior/Senior High School.
