Commack Man Charged in Fatal DWI Crash

A Commack man was charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday morning after his car crashed and killed a passenger in his vehicle, Suffolk County Police said.

Police gave this account:
Patrick J. McMahon was driving a 2018 Infiniti Q60 west on Dovecote Lane, near Dana Lane, when he lost control of the vehicle, struck a driveway pillar and a tree, overturned and came to a stop on the front lawn of the residence located at 94 Dovecote Lane at 1:55 a.m.

Steven Sarvis, 32, of Ronkonkoma, a passenger in the backseat of the Infiniti, was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown where he was pronounced dead. McMahon was taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A second passenger in the Infiniti was treated at  St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center with minor injuries.

McMahon, 48, was charged with Driving while Intoxicated. He will be arraigned at a later date.
