School districts continue to scramble to adjust to the shutdown and provide remote educational programming as well as help families and students adapt.
South Huntington school superintendent Dr. David Bennardo said Monday that an administrative team is opening the buildings Tuesday from 9-10:30 a.m. for anyone who needs to pick up medications, textbooks, etc.
In the Huntington district, Superintendent James W. Polansky said chromebooks will be available to kindergarten-second grade students, and will be available for curbside pickup on this schedule:
- Jefferson & Washington Primary Schools – Wednesday, March 18 (9:00 AM–12 noon)
- Flower Hill & Southdown Primary Schools – Thursday, March 19 (9:00 AM–12 noon) (If a parent is unable to pick up on Wednesday or Thursday, they can do so on Friday from 9 AM–12 noon or 1–3 PM in front of the Jack Abrams STEM entrance.)
Child Care: the district is working with SCOPE for limited child care at Jefferson Primary School. First priority will be given to children of health care workers and first responders, followed by children who participate in the SCOPE before/after-care program.
