Updates on the pandemic:
- PSEG-LI said Tuesday night that it is temporarily closing its 11 customer-service offices, including one in Melville, and temporarily suspended non-critical repair work. Online and phone assistance is still available, and the company directed many employees to work remotely if possible. It will also waive new late-payment fees.
- Oheka said it was suspending all weddings and events for eight weeks; the bar and restaurant are closed until further notice, as are mansion tours.
- Honu Kitchen said Tuesday it was closing for the foreseeable future because of Gov. Cuomo’s order closing all restaurants and bars to in-house service. Many restaurants affected by the order have shifted to takeout or delivery service but Honu said it will remain closed until “it is safe to reopen.”
- The Walt Whitman Shops altered its operating hours Tuesday, shifting to 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s will both be closed to in-store business through the end of March.
- Temple Beth El said that it is suspending all activities until at least March 29. “Though the percentages are small, we would not want to take the chance that even one person would be sickened (or worse) because of exposure at a temple gathering,” the temple said. Friday evening, Shabbat services will be conducted via live stream only. The hope is by minimizing face-to-face interactions we can decrease any instances of transmission. - St. Hugh of Lincoln Church in Huntington Station said all religious education services are canceled for the remainder of the year. Services, including Holy Week and Easter liturgies as well as daily masses, will be shown on the Catholic Faith Network, available at Optimum channel 29/137, Verizon FiOS TV channel 296, and Spectrum channel 162/47.
- Northport Village said its board of trustees would meet Thursday but with no public portion and no new items on the agenda.
