Covid-19 Deaths Top 500 in Huntington

Huntington has recorded 505 deaths related to Covid-19 since March.

Town Clerk Andrew Raia provided the data, including location and average age.

The first death was recorded in March.
March: 31 deaths
April: 338 deaths
May: 122 deaths
June: 13 deaths
July: 1 death

Covid-19 deaths were reported as having occurred at:

    • Huntington Hospital: 182
    • Hospice Inn: 90
    • Huntington Hills Center for Health & Rehab.: 54
    • Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehab. Center: 49
    • Apex Rehab. & Care Center: 39
    • Carillon Nursing & Rehab. Center: 36
    • Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk: 27
    • Hilaire Rehab. & Nursing: 6
    • Maryville: 6
    • Atria: 4
    • Birchwood Suites: 3
    • Private Residences: 9

The average age of the deceased was 81 years.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced Thursday that  a multi-agency task force will crack down on social distancing violations at restaurants and bars across the state.
New York State Police and State Liquor Authority Chairman Vincent Bradley will lead the effort, which will rapidly deploy investigators to respond to dangerous social distancing violations as they happen. The task force will include investigators from the Department of Health, Department of Financial Services, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Taxation and Finance, the New York State Insurance Fund
 and the Department of Agriculture and Markets.

The governor also reiterated his call for the federal government to provide funding for state and local governments.
