Covid-19 Mask Mandate Extended

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday extended the Covid-19 mask mandate for businesses and venues until Feb. 10.

The mandate for schools remains in place while a court considers the legality of the governor’s order to require masks.

“As we know, the school masking policy remains in effect, despite the fact that there was a little blip, but we are back on track legally. And I want to thank our Attorney General, Letitia James and her incredible team for understanding the urgency of us appealing a decision that came forth based on factors that we don’t agree with.

Suffolk County Legislator Stephanie Bontempi, R-Huntington, is giving away free at-home Covid-19 test kits and KN95 masks.  The tests and masks were provided by the state.

“The test kits and masks are available to anyone who has a need for them.  These supplies, although limited, will hopefully play a meaningful role in our efforts to stamp out COVID-19 sooner than later,” said Bontempi.

Those interested in securing the kits and/or masks should call Bontempi’s office at 631-854-4500 (Monday to Friday between 9:00AM and 5:00PM) prior to stopping by to acquire them.   Bontempi’s office is located at 224 Wall St., Suite 303, Huntington.
