Harborfields High School has canceled its season opening football game scheduled for Friday because of Covid-19 protocols.
“The Harborfields High School varsity football game originally scheduled for Sept. 3 against Westhampton has been cancelled due to a small number of COVID-related quarantines among the football staff,” the district superintendent, Dr. Rory Manning, said Thursday. “This results in not having adequate supervision for Friday’s game. We are looking forward to a successful season ahead.”
There was no further information about the Covid-19 situation.
According to the Section XI schedule, Harborfields’ next football game will be Sept. 10 at Sayville.
Friday’s game was to be the first in the eight-game season.
